Runes of Magic (RoM) is an online massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) from the fantasy genre developed by a Taiwanese developer and ported to English and German by Frogster Interactive.
Last month, a user posted a message on the game's forum claiming that he has compromised almost every Frogster computer system and has extracted all of the players' details.
He threatened to publish 1,000runes of magic gold email addresses and login details for RoM accounts every day if the company does not meet his demands in two weeks time.
The list of requests included the company not closing or deleting forum topics just because it doesn't like the discussions, starting to treat its employees better, being more transparent to customers and securing the game client against cheating.
The hacker also claims to have found a sniffing program placed by the company on its own network which tracks and records all employee traffic(rom gold), as well as their emails and chats, into a database.
"You have two weeks to fulfill these requests," the hacker, identified only by the handle augustus87, wrote. "If you don't or if you remove this threat without notice I'm going to increase the number of released compromised accounts to the public by every day the thread is not accessable [sic.] anymore!" he threatened. You can buy runes of magic gold.
